Die Band Tristano Unchained lebt von der musikalische Klasse der fünf Individuen und der besonderen Konstellation dieser Persönlichkeiten: Bossert, Schmid, Rückert, Lennig und Smock – eine hochkarätige Besetzung.

Lennie Tristano entwickelte in den 40er-Jahren eine eigene musikalische Sprache und hielt diese in seinen radikalen Kompositionen fest – meist basierend auf klassischen Jazzstandards. Tristano Unchained bringt diesen musikalischen Ansatz in die Gegenwart und präsentiert neue musikalische Portale zwischen aktuellen stilistischen Strömungen und den klassischen Kompositionen des Great American Songbook.
